Mission Statement
To impact the community with the love of Christ by meeting their practical needs.

What is Adopt a Block?
Adopt a Block is a door-to-door ministry where interns visit apartments in our own community to ask residents what they can do to meet their practical needs. Whether their needs be simply a prayer and a word of encouragement, or something more practical like clothing and furniture, the Adopt a Block team is there to help. This ministry takes place weekly at 10:30 am every Wednesday morning at the Kentwood and Summerwalk apartments near River of Life.

Our ministry is based upon consistency. The same groups of interns visit the same residents every week, which develops a trust-based relationship and an open door for ministering the gospel. In just a short amount of time, we have seen many lives impacted and many practical needs met in our community.

Your Donations are Essential to AAB’s Success
We do not purchase any of the items that we give away to these residents and because of this, we rely completely upon donations in order to keep the ministry running. If you would like to donate to this ministry, please contact TJ Mriglot by phone at (206) 356-1235 or by email at aab@riveroflifefellowship.org.

The Guiding Principles
We are bond-servants of the Lord, completely dependent upon Him for guidance and help. We do not trust in chariots or horses, but in the name of the LORD our God.
Psalm 20:7
We are a discipleship and a multiplication ministry.
     - Discipleship: teach women how to pray and trust God.
     - Multiplication: every school prayed for by a group.
We have been called to serve in MITI.
We are accountable to represent the MITI ministry and vision with love and integrity.
We have a message that brings encouragement and hope to mothers.
We nurture, encourage and equip with a godly, gracious, uncritical spirit.
We maintain strict confidentiality – what is prayed for in the group, stays in the group.
We pray for children and schools.
We are not a lobbying group: Moms In Touch International is not a lobbying group, regardless of how worthy the cause. Participation in outside political and social issues must be done solely on an individual basis. Under no circumstances should the Moms In Touch International name be used in conjunction with outside issues.
We will communicate to our financial supporters with the highest professional standards of truth, accuracy, and propriety before God.

Do you have questions about the Bible? Send your question to Pastor Jack at questions@riveroflifefellowship.org and watch for answers here on the website and in our weekly bulletin.

This week’s question:

Q: SHOULD A BELIEVER EXPECT TO SUCCEED IN HARD TIMES?

A: If you study the Word of God, you will discover that most of the examples we have of God’s people succeeding, were in what we would refer to as hopeless times.

Let me give some biblical examples. Rom 4:18 tells us that “Abraham” who, contrary to hope, in hope believed. It was hopeless under natural circumstances for him and his wife to have a baby at his age, but that was the very time God gave him a miracle. If follow his son Isaac’s story, you will find it was during a severe famine and that God had him sow in the land of the Philistines, which produced a hundredfold return in the same year (Gen 26:12-13).

One of my favorite examples is where God’s people (who had been in slavery for 430 years) were delivered during the time of their bondage. Perhaps you’re thinking ‘Yes, that’s true but it took them 40 years to do it,’ but it was never God’s intention to take forty years. It was only because they would change their “stinking thinking” that it took so long. Likewise, we do not have to take a long time to succeed if we would simply mix our faith with the promises as well (Heb 4:2).

First Steps

Christianity has been given many faces over the years through television, religion, and the personal experiences of those around you. What we would like you to know is that no matter what you have heard, seen or experienced in your life, the beginning of Christianity involves one thing: Your relationship to Jesus Christ. Becoming a Christian does not equate to ritualistic behavior or repetetive church experience. Quite the opposite!

1. Admit you need help. A sick person needs to admit to a doctor their symptoms in order for the doctor to help them. An alcoholic or drug addict needs to submit to conseling and rehabilitation in order to recover fully. Admitting you need something more than yourself in life is a big step. It involves setting our pride aside and saying “You know what, I tried life my way, and it’s not working.” Admit that you are indeed a sinner in need of a savior who will cleanse you and rescue you.

2. Speak to God about this heartfelt need and confess your sins according to Romans 10:9-10 —that he died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day, you will be saved! Romans 10:9-10 is very clear on the basic understanding of how to first come to the place where Jesus is an important person in your life:

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

This is the first and critical step. The rest is learning, living and experiencing Christ in order to build your own personal relationship. Like a relationship with any human on earth, it takes time and understanding to make it great. Life with Jesus is no exception. It takes time in prayer, reading the Bible and fellowship with others in order to expand your understanding of Christian life and the Word of God.

3. Get involved immediately with a solid, Bible-believing church. Do your homework and pray that God would lead you to the right church. Being a part of a church family has many great benefits which you will discover once you get plugged in. Worship, fellowship and teaching are the primary purposes of a church, all of which will help you to grow and share your own faith with others.

If you feel in your heart this is something you should do right now, and if you can believe according to what you just read in Romans 10:9-10, pray this simple prayer and let Jesus make your life brand new starting right now.

“Father, forgive me of my sins. I confess all that I have done in my life against your will for me. I admit I am in need of a savior, so I ask you now to be Lord of my life and to come into my heart to abide with me. I believe you died for my sins, were buried, and resurrected on the third day. Thank you for loving me and dying for me. Help me from this day forward to be the Christian you desire for me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer today, we rejoice with you. However, we know you will have many questions and need to speak with someone. Feel free to call or email us at 1 888 850 0997 or to info@riveroflifefellowship.org. Thank you for taking the time today and God bless you!

A: River of Life has classes, programs, activites and more for the entire family, from birth to seniors. Click here for more age-specific information.

Q: What is important to River of Life?
A: Every aspect of what we do has meaning and value, but if you were to break it down in its simplest form, our services are designed to offer 1) powerful worship and 2) a life-changing message. Worship at The River is led by our music pastor and creative arts pastor along with a talented live band. The style is consistent with today’s culture, but does not neglect more traditional worship and familiar songs.
